Damask
This design is a development of the ever popular Damask motif. The cushions were made from a silk effect fabric printed in gold. To enhance the fabric I have embroidered with gold thread in a machine chain stitch. You can see the fabric before it was customised on the back of the cushion in the second image.
Designed to coordinate with this fabric, a similar motif is appliquéd onto a plain silk which is used as a border on the leading edge of a velvet curtain.
The same motif can be printed onto a variety of fabrics, in this example it is silk organza.
The final sample shows the damask motif quilted onto a silk check taffeta.
