I have always had a strong interest in all kinds of embroidery, but it was not until I gave up my full time career as an IT Consultant in 1996, that I found the time to begin any formal tuition.

I began the 7900 Part 1 at Gloucester College of Art and Technology (Gloscat) as a distance learner in 1998. However, recognising the advantages of attending the college, I swapped to the day class after a year. I completed Part 1 in June 2001 and Part 2 in June 2003.

My main interest has always been machine embroidery and I was asked to develop the 7822 City & Guilds Machine Embroidery distance learning course in September 2001, which I subsequently ran with the day tutor.

I obtained my FAETC Part I in Jan 2002.
